KEPPEL UNION SCHOOL DISTRICT TEACHER OF THE YEAR: The Keppel Union School District is pleased to announce the 2022-2023 Keppel Union School District Teacher of the Year:
Ms. Angelique Gunnels
Ms. Gunnels has served as a teacher at Alpine Elementary School for the past 9 years in both 3rd and 4th grades. Prior to that, she served for 6 years as a Substitute Teacher.
Ms. Gunnels is committed to service to students, her colleagues, and the Keppel learning community. She is active on her site’s Leadership Team and the District Arts for All Committee. She takes pride in extending students’ learning time by teaching Saturday School as well. Ms. Gunnels brings learning alive for her students through art, the use of realia and hands-on activities, student-led learning, literacy circles, and engaging science lessons such as an owl pellet lab. The library at Alpine features Harry Potter-themed walls and decor, thanks to Ms. Gunnels and her extraordinary artistic ability. As a Mentor in the Teacher Support Program, Ms. Gunnels has provided guidance and support for several of our new Teachers. She has been integral in organizing Alpine’s annual Christmas and talent shows for the past several years in addition to this year’s Earth Day Art Contest. Please help me to extend our appreciation and congratulations to Ms. Gunnels for her outstanding service and leadership in Keppel.
