The dedicated office staff of Lake Los Angeles Elementary came together to honor and remember 9/11 🇺🇸❤️. In the picture stand Principal Dr. Imoisili, Student Support Coordinator Mr. Smith, LVN Courtney, Nurse Eva, and Office Clerk Mrs. Gudino. Their presence represents the heart of the school community, reminding us that together we can honor the past while guiding our students toward a brighter future. 🕊️✨

Our 6th-grade students have been hard at work designing and building paper roller coasters as part of their science unit on energy transfer. This hands-on project helped students explore the concepts of potential and kenetic energy, friction, and gravity in a creative and engaging way. On May 23, 2025, students showcased their roller coasters in the cafeteria for other grade levels and staff to see in action. Our K-8 Mustangs recently enjoyed an exciting and educational visit from the Sub Zero Nitrogen Ice Cream team. Students had the unique opportunity to watch liquid nitrogen transform simple ingredients into delicious ice cream right before their eyes! This interactive assembly combined hands-on science with a tasty treat, making learning about the properties of liquid nitrogen both fun and memorable. The event sparked curiosity and delight as students explored the science behind rapid freezing and states of matter, all while savoring their freshly made ice cream. It was a fantastic way to bring science to life and celebrate our Mustangs’ enthusiasm for discovery. Dear KUSD Families, Keppel Union School District places the safety of students and staff as its highest priority. After assessing the current conditions of all Keppel Schools, we will reopen tomorrow, August 22, 2023. Adjustments will be made to bus routes impacted by road conditions and families will receive notification today to let them know about alternative bus routes. Dear Families, The National Weather Service has issued a tropical storm warning for Hurricane Hilary from now until Monday night that will affect areas in Southern California, including Los Angeles County. Currently, tropical storm force winds of 20 to 40 mph are being projected with gusts to 45 mph in certain L.A. County areas. A flash flood warning has been issued for southern L.A. County with potential for 1 – 3 inches of water and higher in certain areas. It is advised to continue to prepare for impacts of the storm and expect roadway flooding, wind damage, and power outages. At this time, due to these possible impacts, Keppel Union School District will be closed tomorrow, Monday, August 21, 2023. We anticipate reopening schools on Tuesday August 22, 2023. For any questions or concerns please contact your child’s school principal. Stay safe and dry this weekend.
